CPP-HR 0101 Employment Classification V2

  1. Objective


To classify team members according to duration of employment.


  1. Scope


This policy shall apply to all team members.


  1. Provisions


Hired team members shall be classified as follows:

  1. Temporary Team member

    1. Any team member hired for the completion of a specific project/temporary assignment not anticipated to remain in existence beyond a fixed period.

    2. The job assignment, work schedule and duration of the position will be determined on an individual basis.

    3. A temporary position shall not exceed six (6) months in duration unless specifically extended by a written agreement.

    4. A temporary team member does not become a regular team member by virtue of being employed longer than the agreed upon specified period.

    5. Temporary team members are not eligible for benefits accorded to regular team members unless otherwise specified in their contract of employment.


  1. Project-Based Team Member

    1. One who is engaged for a specific purpose and period of time for vacancies arising as a result of new projects on pilot period, emergency work and surge of workload, and to relieve someone on prolonged leave.

    2. One who is hired for a specific contract term and is co-terminus with the project duration, client contract duration, or return of a team member on prolonged leave.

    3. This team member must satisfactorily pass the performance appraisal that is conducted on or before the third month of employment.

    4. This team member is entitled to government institutions’ contributions and appropriate withholding tax.


  1. Bi-Lingual Team Member

    1. A foreign team member can start employment if there's a valid work permit.

    2. A foreign team member will be engaged using a consultancy contract.


  1. Student/On-the-Job Trainee

    1. One who is engaged primarily to fulfill on-the-job training as a school pre-requisite. The on-the-job training shall be rendered for a certain number of hours as may be required by the particular school/institution and evidenced by a certification to this effect signed by an official representative of the school / institution.


  1. Consultant

    1. One who is an independent contractor who is engaged to provide professional advice or services for a fee and for a period of time.

    2. A Probationary team member who is undergoing a trial period of employment, not exceeding six (6) months from the date of engagement, during which the Company evaluates the employee’s performance, conduct, and overall performance for regular employment, based on reasonable standards made known at the time of hiring.

A probationary team member is entitled to statutory benefits mandated under Philippine labor laws. Upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period and meeting the performance standards set by the Company, the employee shall be regularized.

  1. Regular Team member

    1. Any team member who has satisfactorily completed the probationary period.

    2. A regular team member is entitled to all Company-provided benefits upon regularization.


  1. Responsibility


VP-HR is responsible for identifying the Employment Classification of new hires and/or team members.


  1. Frequency


  1. For Items 3.1 to 3.5 – upon receipt of requirements.

  2. For Item 3.6 - Immediate superior and CSG VPs are responsible for team member’s regularization process.

  1. Usage


  1. The Employment Classification must be indicated on the Manpower Request email template.

  2. The details of the classification must be shown on the job description.

  3. Conversation to regular status must be based on the Performance Management System (PMS) form.
