Sickness Notification FAQs

A. How will I know if I am eligible to apply for the sickness benefit?

  1. If you were unable to work due to sickness or injury and confined either in a hospital or at home for at least four (4) days;
  2. If you have paid at least three (3) months of contributions within the 12-month period immediately before the semester of sickness or injury;
  3. If you used up all current company sick leaves with pay; and
  4. If you notified the employer or the SSS, if unemployed, voluntary or self-employed member regarding your sickness or injury.

B. When should I notify about my sickness for me to avail of the SSS sickness benefit?

  1. Member should notify the employer within five (5) calendar days after the start of sickness or injury with the requirements to avoid late endorsement to SSS and possible disapproval

C. I would like to have my sickness notification done online while completing the physical documents, what details do I need to provide? 

  1.    Please provide the following details:
            a. Employee’s SSS Number
            b. Full Name
            c. Start of sick leave
            d. Confinement Type: (Home or Hospital)
            e. Number of days applied: (as recommended by Doctor based on Medical Certificate, based on filled out Sickness Notification form)
            f. Doctor’s PRC/ID No.: (License Number of Attending Physician)
